The season ended last week for the Wisconsin Badgers, but news about the roster continues to come over the past few days.
Sophom*ore outside hitter Ella Wrobel entered the transfer portal Monday. The 6-foot-4 hitter from Illinois, who took a redshirt this past season, played in six matches during her freshman season. She’ll have three years of eligibility left.
Senior defensive specialist Sydney Reed also entered the transfer portal. The former North Carolina Tar Heel announced that decision ahead of the NCAA Tournament run she would use her final year of eligibility somewhere else.
Another anticipated roster move that was confirmed Friday night was that senior setter MJ Hammill posted on Instagram that she would not be a part of UW’s program next season, and seemingly hinted that she won’t use another year of eligibility at a different school.
In the post, Hammill thanked fans for the “support, love and dedication” shown to her during her time in the program. Hammill said it’s “hard to be done with a sport (that) has been part of (her) since (she) could walk.”
Those departures add to more turnover for the Badgers this season, who had many seniors as part of its rosters. Reed, Wrobel and Hammill will join Temi Thomas-Ailara, Izzy Ashburn, Joslyn Boyer and Gabby McCaa as departing players.
UW will add six players in its upcoming recruiting class, but could be also active in the transfer portal as well. Reporting from the Wisconsin State Journal’s Dennis Punzel suggests Minnesota transfer Taylor Landfair is considering the Badgers as her next destination.
We’ll be sure to report any more roster movements here.
