An unofficial Team USA Olympic roster for women's basketball leaked over the weekend, and it includes some big names but leaves others out. Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark said she learned in a phone call she didn't make the cut for the Paris Games.The national team's head coach earlier this year said Clark's prospects look bright for future games."There's no question she'll be an Olympian, she's got a long, great career ahead of her," said coach Cheryl Reeve. Plenty of veterans are headed to Paris, including Stockton's Chelsea Gray. The former St. Mary's High School player currently plays for the Las Vegas Aces. She also had a spot on the Tokyo Olympic roster.Another big name on the roster is Brittney Griner, who will play internationally for the first time since she was detained for 10 months in Russia. Veteran Breanna Stewart also made the roster."This is the best of the best," Stewart said. "I'll never turn it down. You know, anytime I can represent Team USA and have USA across my chest, I'm always going to show up."The women have only a few days to train together next month stateside before they head overseas for an exhibition game, then onto the Olympics.The team has a strong legacy to uphold: the US Women's Basketball team has won every gold medal since the 1996 Atlanta Games.As the Paris Olympics draw closer we're profiling Olympians with Northern California ties.
